    Germany is a haven for games! Did you know that Germans invented the jigsaw puzzle and board games? Bring your friends and your competitive spirit and celebrate Germany with a night of German food, drink, board games and of course Gemütlichkeit!

    Our January menu will feature Grünkohl, a hearty kale dish perfect for a cold winter night. Enjoy an assortment of German Bier including Hirter Morchl, a dark beer full of flavor. YUM! 

    This event is free and open to the public. Food and beverage are available for purchase. Free parking is available in the 5-3 Bank parking lot (entrance on Western & Gunnison).

    Come join us for Kulturküche, our German inspired, specialty cooking class! Lincoln Square's own Chef Carol Himmel will teach students how to make Rahm Schnitzel - a delectable pork tenderloin in a mushroom cream gravy - all from scratch.

    Have you ever wondered the best way to brown meat or the just the right combination of seasoning to give a meal that authentic Bavarian taste? Pull up a chair, relax and enjoy a drink on us while you watch and learn. 

    hands-on demo with a pro is the perfect winter experience for anyone resolving to expand their cooking repertoire this year. You'll get practical instructions while discovering the secrets behind one of Germany’s most popular meals. Come experience the warmth of the kitchen, share the camaraderie of a community, and receive helpful tips from the master herself. You’ll want to teach your family everything you learn! 

    Carol has been dishing up scrumptious, homemade meals at her family's neighborhood restaurant, Himmel's, for years. Rahm Schnitzel is one of the meals Carol learned to make by watching her mother after the family moved from Germany to Chicago. So whether you're interested in German cuisine or simply enjoy toying in the kitchen, you must add this event to your calendar.

    For the first Kulturküche of 2020 we have various VIP options, including a Chef's Table inside the kitchen. The front row gets the best view and tickets are limited, so reserve yours today!

    Most DANK Haus events are free of charge, but in some cases an admission fee is published in the hopes of being able to pay high costs involved in hosting particular events. If our published admission fee is too high for your ability to pay, please contact us to arrange a way for you to attend the event that you are interested in.

    Come join us for Kinderfasching - a family-friendly celebration with crafts and activities! We are excited to share this special German day with you and your family! 

    We would love to see you and your children dressed up in costumes for this exciting event!

    Admission is free and fun is included!

    Food and beverages will be for sale - including Krapfen (Berliner), Bratwurst, hot dogs, pretzels, juice, coffee, soda, and water. Adults can purchase beer and wine from the bar.

    Skip the lines and buy your tickets online for food, drinks and face painting. Or buy them at the event. Doors open at noon.

    Proceeds support the DANK Haus Language School program and future special events.

    Karneval 2020 is our first ever annual gala and fundraiser to benefit the DANK Haus.

    Enjoy Karneval with all your friends and support the DANK Haus at the same time! You are invited to join in this German holiday tradition of celebration and the "5th Season"! Come dressed to impress and enjoy a night of dancing, food, entertainment and all around fun!

    Your tickets include tasting stations featuring German inspired food from Funkenhausen. Chef Mark Steuer creates unique dishes that bring together the unique flavors of the south that create a soulful mashup of cuisine and culture, perfect for our night of fun. Dovetail Brewery is bringing us local craft beer created by brew master Hagen Dost and there will be plenty of spirits from Koval Distillery and live entertainment from Lakeside Pride Music Ensembles that will make this an evening to remember.

    We will also have an opportunity for you to support the DANK Haus and our vision for the future by bidding on items in our silent and live auction. All of the proceeds will go to help modernize our classrooms, repair our building and fund more arts and cultural programming at the DANK Haus.

    Kids can come and enjoy a German Language children's Film, crafts and board games, while parents enjoy a night of fun in the ballroom during the the DANK Haus inaugural KARNEVAL gala & fundraiser on February 22, 2020.

    Parents that are attending the KARNEVAL Gala and Fundraiser may use use this event for child care services for children 5 years old and up, or with prior approval from Frau Polanski (danica@dankhaus.com).

    First child is $25 for the evening, additional siblings are $20 each.

    Popcorn & Drinks provided, please alert staff to any food allergies at check-in.
