Pretzels Everybody loves them, but do you know how to make them? Due to popular demand, we're bringing back our very own PRETZEL MEISTER REINHARD for a fantastic, hands-on lesson in authentic German pretzel making! Known long ago as little rewards, the pretzel or German "Brezel" was most likely developed by a German bakers guild in the early 12th century. This class will use old-world methods passed down through Reinhard's family. As a special treat, each participant will get a supply of special pretzel lye to make their own pretzels at home. Sign up now, this class sells out fast!

Class fee includes recipe, hands-on demonstration, one drink from the bar, generous tasting, and great camaraderie.

Chicago Premiere & Fundraiser for "Real Prayers Are Said in German" - a movie in the making! The story:

In a close knit German farming community in central Illinois during WWII,  the Baumann family must cope with illness, anti-German sentiment, and the poverty of war-time farming life. Instead of merely surviving, the children find solace and joy in their German heritage, music, baseball, and especially the Cubs at a time when "We'll get 'em next year" became a hopeful mantra for the future.

Like the Baumann family, everyone has a story to tell!  We hope you'll join us April 8th to tell us yours!

    Event highlights:

    • 3 Screenings of 15-min preview movie on large screen
    • Meet & Greet w/ creative team behind the film
    • Story Share: Share a story about your family heritage or Cub's baseball and we will feature it on our website and blog!

Get ready for spring by cleaning your Haus! Participate in our spring donation and do two good things at once: clean out your closets and finally get rid of all that old stuff you haven't looked at in years, and help us raise funds at the same time.

The drive will be held April 21 -29 from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm at the DANK Haus. Our goal is to raise $1,000 to help support the renovation of our storefront. Acceptable donations include clothing, shoes, linens, towels, and accessories (for details see below).

Please deliver all items in closed kitchen bags!

All donations are tax-deductible. Please ask us for a receipt when you deliver your items.

DANK Haus is holding the Drive in partnership with Savers, a global thrift organization. They pay us by the pound for every qualifying donation received. In turn, these items help keep their floors freshly stocked.

    We DO NOT accept:

    • Furniture
