DANICA POLANSKI | LANGUAGE PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Danica was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, but after thirteen years in Chicago, she is a Chicagoan at heart. As a German-American, she is thrilled to join the DANK Haus to share German celebrations and traditions with her own family, and with old and new friends.
Danica initially graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and worked eight years as a preschool and kindergarten teacher at GISC. Intrigued by her students’ multilingual background, she completed a Master’s degree in Bilingual-Bicultural Education from DePaul University, Chicago. This allowed her to not only gain in-depth knowledge in language learning and innovative teaching strategies, but more importantly to be actively engaged in creating a successful and growing German immersion preschool program as Co-Head of Preschool.
As Language Program Director, Danica strives to provide an excellent German language education program for all ages. She is excited to continue developing the German language curriculum, support our wonderful teachers, and offer her linguistic expertise to parents and students to preserve and share German language and culture in Chicago.
