German Elementary/Middle School Classes
WELCOME at the DANK Haus!
The DANK Haus language school welcomes native-born German children spending time in the USA, children of German-speaking parents who live permanently in the USA, and non-native children who are motivated to learn German. Our language school has been founded in 1964 and experienced many changes, but our mission is still to preserve, maintain and promote German language, culture and heritage in the Chicagoland area.
Our curriculum is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and our committed faculty members deliver immersion language classes that foster intellectual growth and reasoning skills through fun activities and age appropriate projects.
The DANK Haus language school collaborates closely with the Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen (ZfA) - the German Central Agency for Schools Abroad and is a member of PASCH (Worldwide Network of German Schools). We are certified to conduct the Deutsch Sprachdiplom 1 &2 (DSD 1 and 2). Students passing the exam are awarded diplomas of language proficiency by the German government which students may submit at a university/Studienkolleg to study in Germany.
Our language school now offers two tracks for more individualized language learning to support our students social and linguistic needs: Deutsch als Zweitsprache (DAZ) and Deutsch and Fremdsprache (DAF).
Please read the distinction of between the two tracks below.
