Willkommen to our German Spring Classes 2026!

Class Description

Willkommen zu Online Book Club: Grimms Märchen! Step into the world of German language and storytelling through the timeless tales of the Brothers Grimm. In this beginner-friendly, 5-week-long book club, we will read select fairy tales in German and discuss these in German and English, exploring vocabulary, key phrases, and cultural context along the way. In their original form, Grimms Märchen often feature a variety of character elements and plot events not present in modern day renditions of the same tales. These stories lend us a glimpse into the past and provide an interesting contrast to the stories we know and love.

Each session will combine guided reading, group discussion, and light grammar practice to build confidence in both comprehension and speaking. No prior experience with literature in German is required—just curiosity and a love of stories!

Note: This course is continuation of our previous Grimms Märchen online class held Fall Semester of 2025 and will feature a variety of all new fairy tales not covered throughout the last book club.

Meeting Times

This class meets every Tuesday, March 31 – April 28, 2026, from 6.30 - 8.00pm on zoom.

PREREQUISITES

You are at least a A2 learner or have successfully completed the Beginner II class? Perfect - you're good to go! No prior experience with literature in German is required—just curiosity and a love of stories!

Price - single classes and Mix & Match

A late fee of $20 will be added to the respective price for any registrants enrolling on or after March 17, 2026.

Minimum Enrollment

There need to be at least 6 students in order for this class to come together. You will receive a confirmation email about this once that minimum is met.

Material

In this class you will be reading Grimms Fairy Tales by Brothers Grimm.

All required texts will be available for download in our shared Google Classroom prior to course start.
