Willkommen to our German Summer Classes 2026!

Class Description

Willkommen zu Online Book Club: Die Verlorenen von New York (The Dead and the Gone) by Susan Beth Pfeffer.

„Die Verlorenen von New York“ is a young adult drama and dystopian disaster novel. After a massive natural disaster floods New York and destroys large parts of the city, a group of teenagers struggles to survive as food, water, and safety become increasingly scarce.

The book shows how people deal with fear, hope, and responsibility in an extreme situation.

Each session will combine guided reading and group discussions. No prior experience with literature in German is required—just curiosity and a love of stories!

Meeting Times

This class meets every Monday, May 11 – June 1, 2026, from 6.30 - 8.00pm on zoom.

PREREQUISITES

You are at least a B1 learner or have successfully completed the Beginner IV class? Perfect - you're good to go! No prior experience with literature in German is required—just curiosity and a love of stories!

Price - single classes and Mix & Match

The cost for a single class is $150 for members of the DANK Haus and $175 for non-members. If you're interested in becoming a friend of ours, click here!

A late fee of $30 will be added to the respective price for any registrants enrolling on or after April 27, 2026.

Minimum Enrollment

There need to be at least 6 students in order for this class to come together. You will receive a confirmation email about this once that minimum is met.
