The DANK Haus German American Cultural Center offers internships in the DANK Library, Marketing department, and Museum. Undergraduates or early career graduate students interested in gaining firsthand experience in museum management, promotions, library science, nonprofits, or cultural centers can benefit from an internship with the DANK Haus. Interns work under the guidance of the staff, curators, and board of directors to assist with new projects every week.
Please note that the majority of our internships are unpaid. Students are responsible for making appropriate arrangements with their schools to receive credit for internships. Hours may vary and scheduling is flexible; however, a minimum of 14 hours per week is generally expected.
The DANK is also seeking volunteer docents for guided tours. Application materials and further information can be found here: Docent Program
Q: How can I find out about internships?
A: Unfortunately, all internships are unpaid. For J-1 applicants we recommend scholarships with the GIZ or DAAD. Also most International Offices offer scholarship programs.
Q: Do you accept J-1 visa interns and trainees?
A: Yes, we have extensive experience with the J-1 process.
Q: Do you offer housing?
A: Housing arrangements are not provided for interns. It is the intern's responsibility to find his/her own housing.
Q: How long does it typically take to hear back about an internship application?
A: Because of the large number of applications that we receive, only finalists will be contacted.
Q: How do I apply?
A: Please send a cover letter and curriculum vitae to the contact listed within each department (see the application materials to the right for further information).
