Where can I park?There is free and metered parking available in the DANK’s vicinity. Depending on the time, you might have to park a block away.
Where is drop-off?
For the Weekday Program: At the DANK Haus, 3rd floor. 4740 Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60625. If possible, we encourage everyone to use the stairs to allow for social distancing.
For the Saturday Program: At the DANK Haus, 1st floor Treffpunkt. 4741 Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60625.
When is drop off?
For the Weekday Program: Drop-off is between 8:15am and 8:45am.
For the Saturday Program: Drop-off is between 9 am and 9:10 am.
When is pick-up?
For the Weekday Program: Pick-up is at 3pm. We allow for a grace period of 15 minutes. Children who are not picked up by 3:15pm will be send to billable after-care.
For the Saturday Program: Pick-up is at 12p. Please be on time.
Can I sign up for half-days?Yes, if there is space available. Please contact the language program director Carina Staudte at email@example.com.
Is there after/before care?Yes. Please sign up for it at the beginning of the month for a discounted rate, or use the drop-in before/after care.
Can my child take a nap?Yes. Please bring blankets and pillows as needed (please mark them clearly with the child’s name).
What should I bring to class every day?Your child needs an extra set of clothes (more, if recently potty trained), Hausschuhe (slippers with a rubber/leather sole), appropriate outerwear (we will go outside frequently), snack, lunch and a water bottle. Please mark all the belongings with the child’s name.
Do you provide snacks and lunch?No. We do not have the equipment required to do so under IL state law. Please note that we are a nut-free environment.
Are there field trips?Yes. We will go outside frequently.
Can I sign up for less than a year?Maybe. Please contact the language program director Carina Staudte at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What does the school year look like?Click here to see the school year calendar. We follow the CPS calendar pretty closely. First day of school is September 1st, 2021. Last day of school is June 15, 2022.
What is the teacher-child ratio?We aim for a teacher ratio of 1:8 or less.
How big are the classes?
During COVID-19, we will not allow more than 10 students in a class.
