Who should I call if I need to reach the teachers immediately?

Please call the office at 773-561-9181 Ext.2.

Where can I park?

There is free and metered parking available in the DANK’s vicinity. Depending on the time, you might have to park a block away.

Where is drop-off?

At the DANK Haus, 3rd floor, 4740 Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60625.

When is drop off?

For the Weekday Program: Drop-off is between 8:15am and 8:45am.

For the Saturday Program: Drop-off is between 9:05 am and 9:10 am.

When is pick-up?

For the Weekday Program: Pick-up is at 3pm. Children who are not picked up by 3:15pm will be send to billable after-care. 

For the Saturday Program: Pick-up is at 12p. Children who are not picked up by 12:10pm will be sent to billable homework session.

Can I sign up for half-days?

Yes, for weekday school only, and if there is space available. Please contact us at kinderschule@dankhaus.com

Is there after/before care?

Yes, for weekday school only. Please sign up for it at the beginning of the month for a discounted rate, or use the drop-in before/after care.

Can my child take a nap?

Yes, for weekday school only. Please bring blankets and pillows as needed (please mark them clearly with the child’s name).

What should I bring to class every day?

For weekday school: Your child needs an extra set of clothes (more, if recently potty trained), Hausschuhe (slippers with a rubber/leather sole), appropriate outerwear (we will go outside frequently), snack, lunch and a water bottle. Please mark all the belongings with the child’s name.

For Saturday School: A filled water bottle, snacks, and writing utensils.

Do you provide snacks and lunch?

No. We do not have the equipment required to do so under IL state law. Please note that we are a nut-free environment.

Are there field trips?

Yes, for weekday school especially. We will go outside frequently and nearly every project involves an offside field trip (recent field trips have been to the Museum of Science and Industry, Shedd Aquarium, Exploritorium, Botanical Garden, the Salvation Army, and much more).

Saturday school students will venture to close by parks.

Can I sign up for less than a year?

Maybe. Please contact the language program director through kinderschule@dankhaus.com.

What does the school year look like? 

Click here to see the school year calendar. We follow the CPS calendar pretty closely. First day of school is usually around end of August, and the last day of school is usually around mid-June. We offer Summer Camps from June - August, as well, if you need year-round child care.

What is the teacher-child ratio?

We aim for a teacher ratio of 1:8 or less.

How big are the classes?

We have small class sizes and cap around 12-14 students, weekday Kindergarten is capped at 8 students.
