Join us as we survey the history of the German speaking peoples from the scientific revolution of the 17th century, through the Enlightenment of the 18th and up to the unification of Germany in 1871.

Meet the great German scientists, Leibniz and Kepler among others, whose discoveries helped lay the intellectual foundations of the Enlightenment.

We'll discuss the emancipation of the serfs--most of our ancestors--and the Jews in the late 18th and 19th centuries, and what effect this would later have on urbanization, the industrial revolution as well as immigration to America.
