What is this?

We are proud to have received our accreditation from the ÖSD  as one of their very few testing centers in the US! We are certified to test German on the levels A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 - corresponding to our own Beginner I - IV, Intermediate and Proficient classes ages 16 and above. With a ÖSD certificate you prove your German proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) which is the internationally recognized standard of language skill recognition.

You can use this for citizenship requirements, university requirement, or just to prove your skills!

How do I take the test?

The test is comprised of two parts: One part is writing, listening, and reading. The other one is speaking. To familiarize yourself with this format we recommend to take part in our workshop on March 25 at 7pm on zoom.

Please note: The workshop does not guarantee passing the exam. However, we highly recommend taking it, because you will know the format and the general questions that will be asked.

We will offer exams in the spring and in the fall, but will also be happy to work with you, if you have a specific timeline you must meet (administration needs about 6 weeks to prepare for an actual exam).

Price

The exam costs:

  • A1 & A2: $175
  • B1 & B2: $200
  • C1: $225

The Workshop can be added for:

  • A1 & A2: $50
  • B1 & B2: $60
  • C1: $60

Exam dates

A1 & A2: April 27, 2026

B1 & B2: April 20, 2026

C1 & C1 Pflege -und Medizin: April 13, 2026

Sign-up deadline for all levels is March 18, 2026.

How can I best prepare for the exam?

We encourage participating in our general information session on February 25 7-8pm. This meeting will be held on Zoom. We will provide an overview of the exam format and share tips and important details about what to expect. This session is free and is open to anyone interested in learning more about the structure and content of the exam.

We will also offer a preparation workshop specifically for levels A1, A2, B1 and B2, where participants can practice key skills, review sample exams and receive tips on how to best prepare for the exam. Please check out the ÖSD Webshop to find practice material.

Cancellation policy

Refunds, minus a $50 administrative fee, are available if requested in writing up until one day before the exam sign-up deadline for the respective testing period. No refunds will be issued after this period.

As always, please reach out to languageschool@dankhaus.com with any questions, or find Mariel or Carina during class on Monday and Wednesday nights.

See you! Bis dahin!
