Willkommen to our German Fall Classes 2025!

Class Description

Step into the world of German language and storytelling through the timeless tales of the Brothers Grimm. In this beginner-friendly, 5 week long online book club, we will read select fairy tales in German and discuss these in German and English, exploring vocabulary, key phrases, and cultural context along the way. In their original form, Grimms Märchen often feature a variety of character elements and plot events not present in modern day renditions of the same tales. These stories lend us a glimpse into the past and provide an interesting contrast to the stories we know and love. Each session will combine guided reading, group discussion, and light grammar practice to build confidence in both comprehension and speaking. This book club is for students on the A2-B1 level.

Meeting Times

This class meets every Wednesday, November 5 - December 11, from 6.30 - 8.00pm on zoom.

Achtung: There is no class on November 26th (Thanksgiving Break).

PREREQUISITES

You are a A2 learner or have successfully completed the Beginner II class? Perfect - you're good to go! No prior experience with literature in German is required—just curiosity and a love of stories!

Price - single classes and Mix & Match

A late fee of $20 will be added to the respective price for any registrants enrolling on or after October 22, 2025.

Minimum Enrollment

There need to be at least 6 students in order for this class to come together. You will receive a confirmation email about this once that minimum is met.

Material

In this class you will be reading Grimms Fairy Tales by Brothers Grimm.

The material will be provided by the teacher.
