Dr. Reinhard andressdirectorReinhard Andress earned his PhD in German Language and Literature from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. After one-year appointments at Middlebury College, Colby College and Alfred University, he spent 18 years in teaching and administration at Saint Louis University. He then became Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University where he was heavily involved in advocating and fundraising for the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. For the last few years, he has served as Director of German Studies at Loyola. He has published widely in the areas of GDR Literature, Exile Studies, Alexander von Humboldt Studies and German-Americana. It is the latter, along with his German-American roots, that connects him strongly with the DANK Haus where he serves on the Museum Subcommittee and is working as the co-curator of a new permanent exhibition on German-Americans in Chicago. |
